Long term local and retired pharmacist, Reece Burgess, Horsham assets for sale after 75 years of ownership through Burgess Rawson’s Raoul Holderhead and Justin Kramersh.
Retired pharmacist and well regarded former long term local, Reece Burgess is selling his prized Horsham assets, one of which once housed his thriving pharmaceutical business.
Burgess Rawson’s Raoul Holderhead and Justin Kramersh are selling his two properties at their Portfolio Auction event at Crown Casino on Wednesday 25 October at 10.30 AEDT.
The freehold pharmacy asset at 96-98 Firebrace Street holds special sentiment as it has been held by the Burgess family for the past 75 years.
Mr Burgess said, “my father initially opened a pharmacy in bayside Hampton back in the 1930s but grew sick of the ‘rat race’ so he sold up and in 1947, bought the original Horsham chemist at number 98.
“The original business was founded in a Victorian building in the 1880s and after my father purchased the property, it was fully renovated and extended.
“I inherited the property and in the 1970s, eventually purchased the adjoining site and basically doubled the size of the pharmacy.”
Mr Burgess sold his business decades ago when he retired and retained the freehold as an investment. But the idea of retiring was short lived with the new owner of his pharmacy hiring him back where he was employed until he filled his final script in 2008.
The iconic, centrally located corner asset is situated in the heart of Horsham’s CBD, in regional Victoria and is located in Wimmera’s commercial epicentre with a trade catchment of some 55,000 people.
Amcal now occupies the 426sqm two level building on a renewed 5+5 year lease paying a net annual rental of $95,652.
The other property Mr Burgess has listed for sale is Horsham’s popular Chickpea Café at 30 Pynsent Street which adjoins the Amcal asset.
Mr Holderhead said he expected strong interest in both investments as they are in prime locations surrounded by quality blue chip brands and offer secure, long term income and future growth.
