Located in the heart of the city’s entertainment precinct, the building was sold by Colliers International.
Clive Palmer has purchased a three-story mixed-use property located at 104 Flinders Street in Townsville at auction for $780,000.
The 368 square metre building is situated on the 232 square metre land area and includes an attached three car lockable garage.
The building was marketed by Colliers International Townsville's Shaun McLaren as space for retail, office or residential use, with the two-bedroom residence located on the second level.
At a glance:
Managing Director of Colliers International Townsville Mr Peter Wheeler said the property had attracted considerable interest with 50 people present at the auction and eight registered bidders generating a total of 15 bids that started at $500,000.
“In the end Clive Palmer, who was present in the room, was the highest bidder at $780,000,” Wheeler said.
“It’s a very positive sign for Townsville’s commercial property market and we’re not surprised it had so much interest.”
The Queensland Building is part of Townsville’s history being constructed in 1892 as the head office for the North Queensland firm of Burns, Philp Co. Ltd and its subsidiary insurance company.
The three-storey heritage listed property sits in the heart of the city’s entertainment precinct with views over Ross Creek.
